Erma Smith, 97, Trenton, Florida, died in Williston, Florida, on Saturday, July 4, 2015.
Erma Langhout was born to Samuel and Minnie Langhout in 1918 near Beaver Creek. She graduated from Luverne High School.
In 1939 she married her high school friend David H. Smith. The couple had three children. Her husband was a staff writer for the Argus Leader for many years. During her time in Sioux Falls, Erma owned and operated Red Barn Antiques from 1969 to 1996. In 1996 she moved to rural Levy County, Florida.
Erma is survived by three children, Carole Ryden, Luverne, Debra Smith, Bronson, Florida, and Mark Smith, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Smith, a grandson, Tanner Ensenbach, and nine siblings, Virginia, Henry, Dorothy, Clarence, Earl, Ivan, Stanley, Charlotte and Helen.
