Ellen B. Kjenslee, 91, Mankato, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.
A funeral service was Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato.
Ellen Oldre was born Sept. 25, 1926, to Gust and Henrietta Oldre in Kenneth. She was a graduate of Magnolia High School and received her teaching certificate from Mankato State.
Ellen married Cleo Kjenslee on June 30, 1950, in Kenneth. She was a nursing assistant at the Luverne Hospital and taught elementary school in Hardwick and Luverne.
Ellen crocheted afghans for her three daughters, 12 grandchildren and most of her 20 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, games and crossword puzzles but mostly time spent watching grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities and spending time with family.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Cleo Kjenslee; daughters Carol (David) Hagen of Glenville, Connie (Joe) Meyer of Mankato and Cathy (Dean) Kluge of Mankato; a stepson, Ron (Chris) Scheetz of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Joshua (Emily) Metcalfe, Kjersten (Josh) Hoyord, Noah (Tina) Metcalfe, Ben (Lindsey) Metcalfe, Brandon (Melissa) Meyer, Abigail (Matt) Shilling, Stephanie (Chad) Onken, Derek Meyer, Adam (Heather) Kluge, Kjelsey (Nick) Polzin, Austin (special friend Erin Smith) Kluge, and Chad (special friend Jenny Schmuck) Kluge; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Marlys (Al) Bringelson of Los Angeles, California, and LaVonne Kjenslee of Gresham, Oregon; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her in -laws Carrie and Oscar Kjenslee; brothers Norman (Ardis) Oldre and Vernon (Aagot) Oldre; a sister, Ilene (Floyd) Jackson; brothers-in -law Richard (Virginia) Johnson and Lee Kjenslee.
Arrangements were provided by Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato.
