Ellen Frances Hansen, 94, Edgerton, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton. 
A memorial service was Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton. Burial was at the Ruthton Cemetery.
Ellen Nielsen was born Sept. 8, 1920, to Hans and Elsie (Campbell) Nielsen in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Akron High School. When she was 20, the family moved to the Ruthton area. 
On Oct. 3, 1942, she married Axel Hansen at Hope Lutheran Church in Ruthton. The couple lived and farmed near Tyler. Later they purchased a farm west of Ruthton. In 1957 they moved to Ruthton. 
She was very active with the Ladies Aid at church and the Tyler Hospital and nursing home auxiliaries. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, plastic canvas, and cross-stitch. Ellen also enjoyed old time music and dancing.
Ellen is survived by three children, Mary (Dennis) Erickson, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Axel (Judy) Hansen Jr., Ruthton, and Norma Jean (Jeff) Stewart, Luverne; five grandchildren, William Erickson, Paul (Laurie) Erickson, Jeff (Kari) Hansen, Zachary (Kristan) Stewart, Marissa Stewart (fiancé Thomas “TJ” Robbins); six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Mueffels, Waconia, and Waneta Shriver, Marshall; and many other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Axel Hansen Sr. in 1991; a granddaughter, Cheryl Erickson; and two brothers.
