Doris Helen Ebert, 88, Luverne, died Sunday, June 26, 2016, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 1, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. Burial will be in the St. Catherine Cemetery in Luverne. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne, with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Doris Warner was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Clear Lake, South Dakota, to Jacob and Theresa (Grissmer) Warner. She grew up in Clear Lake and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1945.
Doris married Vance Ebert on Feb. 17, 1947, in Clear Lake. The couple moved to Luverne on Dec. 3, 1955. After their two older boys left home, Doris and Vance became foster parents. She found it very easy to love someone else’s child. Doris had worked at the Luverne Farmers Elevator and volunteered at the Luverne Elementary School.
Doris was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne and the WCCW. Doris enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and 500, camping and family vacations.
Doris is survived by her husband, Vance Ebert, Luverne; two sons, Jim (Mary) Ebert, Truman, and Paul (Dyan) Ebert, Big Lake; a daughter-in-law, Terri Ebert, Luverne; six grandchildren, Jessica (Ethan) Harvey, Jake (Nicole) Ebert, Katie (Matt) Mostad, Sarah (Paul) Zebe, Amanda (Eric) Lammert, and Laurin Ebert; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Chuck Ebert in 2002; a brother, Jim (Arlette) Warner; and two sisters, Marion (Gordon) Froiland and Donna (Ray) LaFrentz.
