Donna Mae Peterson, 71, Vergas, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota.
A funeral was Saturday, Dec. 10, at Furey Funeral Home Chapel in Vergas.
Donna Mae Olson was born May 11, 1945, to Alf and Doris (Burk) Olson in Adrian,. She grew up in Magnolia graduated from Magnolia High School in 1963. During her younger years, Donna enjoyed playing on a town league fast-pitch softball team.
Following her graduation, Donna moved to Minneapolis, where she worked for the IDS Insurance Company and later at NSP, where she did keyboarding and data entry. She married Roger Peterson on Sept. 23, 1967, in Richfield, where they made their home. The couple enjoyed playing co-ed volleyball and softball.
The couple moved to Bakersfield, California, where they purchased a convenience store that they owned and operated for about 13 years. The couple then moved to Roger’s family home on Lake Sybil.
Donna worked at a mink ranch for a couple of years until taking a job managing Heisler’s Country Store where she worked until retirement.
The couple enjoyed fishing on Lake Sybil and canning the produce from their garden. Donna was also an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan.
Donna is survived by her husband, Roger; her siblings, Ronnie (Johnnie) Olson, Henning, Larry (Pat) Olson, Wilmot, South Dakota, and Marilyn Bergman, Luverne; a brother-in-law, Chuck Kussman, Dayton; and many nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joe Ray; a brother-in-law, Leon Bergman; a sister-in-law, Carol Kussman; and a nephew, Bruce Olson.
