Donna Gertz
Donna Mae Gertz, 91, West Fargo, North Dakota, died Tuesday, July 3, 2018.
A funeral service was Friday, July 6, at Community Presbyterian Church in West Fargo. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
Donna Brooks was born Jan. 19, 1927, to Lyman and Anna Brooks in Luverne. She grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota with nine siblings.
In September of 1947, Donna married Robert Gertz. They made their home in Magnolia before moving to West Fargo in 1957. Donna was active in her church where she perfected floral arrangements for the worship service for over 40 years as well as singing in the choir. Donna loved working in the yard and enjoyed making jams with home-grown produce. Donna was widowed at an early age when Robert died in a truck accident in 1969.
Donna was a den mother, served in the VFW Auxiliary, volunteered at the VA, Salvation Army and Humane Society. She was part of the maintenance staff at West Acres Shopping Center for 20 years. Donna loved dancing, playing pool and baking. She also loved playing cards.
Donna is survived by five children, Larry (Stephanie) Gertz, Bigfork, Montana, Stephen (Linda) Gertz, Minot, North Dakota, Susan Gertz, Mooreton, North Dakota, Debora Olson, West Fargo, and Thomas (Pamela) Gertz, West Fargo; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Orville Brooks, Burnsville; and a sister, Barbara Hinz, Luverne.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gertz, and seven siblings.
