Dolores Strassburg, 95, Luverne, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center.
A funeral Mass was Saturday, Oct. 6, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. Burial followed at St. Catherine Cemetery.
Dolores Walgrave was born Jan. 21, 1923, to Charles and Adalida (DeSchepper) Walgrave in Sherman, South Dakota. She attended country school in Rock and Pipestone counties.
Dolores married Darrell Strassburg on June 20, 1946, at St Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. After their marriage the couple lived in Hardwick. They later lived in Canby before moving back to Luverne in 1953. Dolores worked at various businesses in Luverne. She was a cook for Luverne Public Schools for many years and was the head cook in her later years.
She was a member of Luverne Ladies Auxiliary and St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne, where she served on the LCCW for many years and was in charge of funeral lunches. She enjoyed baking, gardening, walking, visiting with people and playing cards, especially pinochle and poker.
Dolores is survived by six children, Jeff (Sue) Strassburg, Elk Point, South Dakota, Dennis (Diane) Strassburg, Magnolia, Linda (Doug) Henrichs, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Wendy (Wally) Cooper, Reading, Twyla Strassburg, Sioux Falls, and Pat (Barb) Strassburg, Adrian; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ardean Walgrave, Luverne, and Don Walgrave, Brandon, South Dakota; a sister, Joyce (Roger) Walser, Eden Prairie; and special friends Lowell and Pat Ahrendt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrell; a son, Michael; a grandson, Jim; five brothers, Harold, Robert, Eli, Paul and Arnold Walgrave; and three sisters, Alice Kammerud, Ruth Cook and June Erlandson.
