Delores Maxine Strassburg, 93, Luverne, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center.
A funeral service was Friday, Dec. 29, at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. Burial was in the Kenneth Cemetery.
Delores Schmuck was born Jan. 24, 1924, to Henry and Augusta (Schuldt) Schmuck in Springwater Township. She was confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Luverne and attended school in Rock County.
Delores married Willard Strassburg on Aug. 7, 1940, in Luverne. The couple farmed north of Kenneth. In 1962 they moved into Kenneth. Delores and Willard purchased the grocery store in Kenneth in 1975 and operated it for over five years before retiring.
She was a former member of the Kenneth Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and belonged to the Ladies Aid and Altar Guild. Delores was a current member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening.
Delores is survived by six children, Delmer (Dee) Strassburg, Nicollet; Jacqueline Claussen, Pace, Florida; Joycelyn Erickson, Hendricks; Janice (Russell) Jonas, Luverne; Jolene (Allan) Baumann, Loveland, Colorado; and David (Kathy) Strassburg, Luverne; a daughter-in-law, Jill Strassburg, Lakeshore, California; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard, on May 29, 1994; a son, Dale,; a granddaughter, Jessica Baumann; two sons-in-law, Lee Claussen and Paul Erickson; three brothers, Alvin, Elmer and Lester Schmuck; and two sisters, Irene Arnold and Leone Staeffler.
