David Hansen, 76, Luverne, died peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2020, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage.
       In accordance with the Minnesota Department of Health and CDC guidelines, a private family graveside service took place at St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery in Luverne.
       David Arnold Hansen was born on April 16, 1944, to Arnold K. and Mardella I. (Swenson) Hansen in Luverne. He grew up in the Luverne area and attended school in Luverne, graduating from Luverne High School.
       On April 12, 1969, David married Mary Stanton at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. David farmed with his father for a number of years until going into construction. He retired in 2006. The couple has continued to live in the Luverne area.
       David was an avid horse lover. He cared for horses his entire life and loved going horseback riding. He especially loved the Saddle Horse Holiday in Lake Benton each Father’s Day when he was able to ride there.
       David is survived by his wife, Mary, of Luverne; his two children, Brenda Berghorst of Brandon, South Dakota, and Steve (Keri) Hansen of Magnolia; five grandchildren, Aaron Berghorst, Olivia (Jordan) Lorenzen, and Molly, Meagan, and Madison Hansen; and three great-grandchildren, Nora and Edith Lorenzen, and Kyzer Berghorst.
       He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Darrel Hansen.
