Darla Gail Green, 59, Luverne, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage.
A celebration of life was Monday, Jan. 4, at the Living Rock Church in Luverne.  Burial followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery near Luverne.
Darla Green was born May 10, 1956, to William and Anna (Dreesen) Green in Luverne, where she was raised. She attended Crippled Children’s School in Worthington (which later became Lakeview School) and graduated from Luverne High School in 1975. Darla moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and two years later moved back to Luverne. She was a greeter at the Hinkly House, and she called bingo and sold pulltabs at Luverne American Legion and Luverne Eagles Club. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2006.
Darla enjoyed smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee. She also enjoyed talking on the CB, taking rides and trucking. Darla loved to gamble, play poker and slots with her family, brothers, and father. She never played cards unless she could play for money. In 2011 Darla learned how to drive. It was a newfound freedom for her.
Darla is survived by her siblings, Verne (Janet) Green, Gregory, South Dakota, Roger (Marti) Green, Owatonna, Elnora Hemesath (and friend Duane Eink), Ossian, Iowa, Wayne Green, Luverne, Jerald (Evelyn) Green, Adrian, Bernard (Beth) Green, Bemidji, Orvin Green, Adrian, Charlotte (Daryl) Dammer, Rushmore, Denise Sprecher, Luverne, Reva Green, Luverne, Roxanne Green, (friend Terry Reisdorfer, Adrian) Luverne, special uncle and aunts, Orville (Karen) Dreesen, Ellsworth, Aleida Meyerhoff, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Dolores Dreesen, Luverne; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her nieces, Deanna Green and Jennifer Green.
