Dale Preston Hawes, age 83, of Luverne, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Sanford Luverne Hospital.

Visitation will be Monday, December 4, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Luverne with a memorial service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Jasper City Cemetery.

Dale Preston Hawes was born on May 10, 1940, to Milo and Elsie (Leslie) Hawes in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was baptized in 1941 and confirmed in 1953 at the Methodist Church in Jasper, Minnesota. Dale grew up and attended high school in Jasper where he graduated in 1958.

On July 16, 1958, Dale was united in marriage to Judy Stuckenbroker at the Methodist Church in Jasper. The couple resided in the Jasper area until 1962 when they moved to an acreage near Luverne. Dale farmed his entire life, retiring in 2014 when they moved to town.

On November 30, 2023, Dale passed away peacefully while at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center at the age of 83 years, 6 months, and 20 days.

Dale is a member of the Methodist Church in Jasper. Dale’s greatest enjoyment came from farming and watching rodeos. He also liked to watch old western movies, play cards, and do some old-time dancing.

Dale was very proud of his family and enjoyed sharing with anyone who would listen how many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren he had. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

Dale is survived by his sons, Randy (Noreen) Hawes of Jasper, Minnesota, and Ricky Hawes of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth (Travis) Lange, Brianna (Nick) Werner, Andrew (Holli) Ring, Bridget Ring, Craig (Kathy) Hawes, Jason Hawes and Austin (Katie) Hawes; 15 great-grandchildren, Perceyis Hawes, Marayna Hawes, Haydon Hawes, Hudson Hawes, Naomi (Alexander) Ring, Tavian Lange, Kierra Lange, Kianna Lange, Emeri Werner, Ellie Werner, Charles Werner, Emmah Ring, Charlett Ring, Liam Ring, and Delaney Ring; two great-great-grandchildren, Silas Ring and Whitney Ring; and sister Ellen Thill of Laport City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Hawes; parents, Milo and Elsie Hawes; and daughter, Pamela Ring.
