Charline G. Roberts, 83, Luverne, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center.
A funeral service was Monday, Nov. 4, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. Burial with full military honors provided by the Luverne American Legion and VFW was in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
Charline Graffunder was born Jan. 15, 1936, to Charles and Lola (Aust) Graffunder in Green Valley. She graduated from Marshall High School. On May 25, 1954, she entered the United States Air Force and served her country until being honorably discharged on Feb. 24, 1956.
Charline met her husband, William Roberts, while they were serving in the Air Force. They were married on Jan. 14, 1956, in O’Fallon, Illinois. In 1974 the couple moved to Pipestone. In 1985 they moved to Luverne.
Charline enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, traveling, watching television, and she loved to go out to eat.
Charline is survived by her two daughters, Melinda Roberts, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Stephanie (Gerald) Hughes, Luverne; six grandchildren, Wendy Flowers, Afton Smith, Brett (Britta) DeJager, Jillian (Jessie) Bough, Amanda Dekoekkoek and Jory Roberts; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Graffunder, Brooklyn Park, and Myron (Sonny) Graffunder, Conway, South Carolina; and two sisters, Nancy Woods, Saginaw, Michigan, and Betty Seiler, Marshall.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, on May 25, 2008; a son, Steven Roberts, in 1994; an infant grandson, Christopher Roberts; and numerous siblings.
