Carter Michael Braun, 15, of rural Reading, died Saturday, June 22, 2019, as the result of an automobile accident near Lismore.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington. A private family committal will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at the church and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Carter had just completed his freshman year at Adrian High School where he played football, hockey and baseball. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He sold sweet corn in the summer months, and he helped his father in the lawn care business. Carter loved sports but his true passion was hockey.
He touched many hearts in his young life with a sparkle in his eye. He was very quick-witted, and you could see by his expression that his mind was always working on a smart comment or a response.
Carter is survived by his parents, Andy and Kim Braun, Reading; three siblings, Tanner, Easton and Jacelyn; his grandparents, Mike and Judy Braun and Todd Carlson, all of Worthington; his stepgrandfather, Bruce Heidebrink, Worthington; aunts and uncles Mason (Elyce) Braun, Brandon, South Dakota, Sarah (Chad) Nickel, Worthington, Dan Braun, Reading, Sarah (Seth) Adamson, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Brandon Carlson, Lakefield, and Janie (James) Steckley, Hartford, South Dakota; great-grandparents Louis and Amie Olson, Heron Lake, and Sandra Carlson, Worthington; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sheila Heidebrink, and his great-grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
