Carrie Boom, 77, Beaver Creek, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
A funeral service was Monday, May 11, at the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver Creek. Burial followed at the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
Carrie Van Maanen was born on April 19, 1938, to Albert and Fannie (Reurink) Van Maanen in Luverne. She was raised in Beaver Creek and graduated from Beaver Creek High School in 1956. From 1957 to 1972 she was employed at the Luverne Community Hospital.
On Oct. 27, 1972, Carrie married Cliff Boom. The employment of her husband moved them to different areas. On Aug. 24, 1976, the family moved to Slayton. On Nov. 1, 1978, they moved to Luverne. The family then returned to Beaver Creek on Aug. 1, 1985. Carrie loved being a stay at home mom to their children. When their youngest went to school, Carrie took a job at Luverne Truck Equipment where she was employed from 1990 until her retirement in April 2000.
Carrie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver Creek. She enjoyed attending different sporting events that her children and grandchildren were involved in.
She is survived by her husband, Cliff Boom, Beaver Creek; three children, Randy (Brenda) Van Maanen, Hills, Rhonda Meester, Beaver Creek, and Ranae (Jason) Johnson, Luverne; six grandchildren, Jared (Kristen) Van Maanen and Justin (Amanda) Van Maanen, all of Hills, Dalton and Ashton Meester, of Beaver Creek, and Chase and Sydne Johnson of Luverne; four great-grandchildren, Tess and Nate Van Maanen of Hills, Jackson and Samantha Van Maanen of Hills; a brother, James Van Maanen of Beaver Creek. She was preceded in death by her parents.
