Calene Birky Williams, 59, Roseville, California, died Saturday, June 9, 2018, from breast cancer at her home surrounded by her family.
A family memorial service will be July 14, 2018, in Roseville, California.
Calene Birky was born Aug. 12, 1958, to Lyle and Lorraine (Lundberg) Birky in Detroit Lakes. In 1964 the family moved to Luverne, where she graduated from Luverne High School in 1976. She attended Bemidji State University and attained her associate’s degree after which she joined the U.S. Army. She served on active duty for four years and then earned her B.S. degree from Bethel University.
In 1990 she married J. David Williams in Golden, Colorado, where she worked for the Defense Investigative Service which took them to the Washington, D.C., area for a number of years. Eventually they relocated to California where Calene became employed in the property casualty insurance industry investigating fraudulent claims. She was employed by Esurance at the time of her death.
Calene is survived by her husband, David; two sons, Brian and Jon Williams, all of Roseville; a brother, Zane (Barb) Birky of Eden Prairie; sisters Zoe (Alan) Harnack of Beaver Creek, Rachele (Roger) Taylor of Lakeville, and Memory (Mark) Hokanson of Sauk Centre; a stepbrother, Gene (Sherry) Vorwerk of North Branch; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred either to the family to be used for college expenses or to your favorite cancer charity.
