Brooke Elizabeth Thompson, 22, Luverne, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019, as the result of an automobile accident near Brandon, South Dakota.
A funeral Mass was Monday, July 29, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. Burial was at St. Catherine Cemetery in Luverne.
Brooke Thompson was born April 15, 1997, to Wayne and Mary (Spartz) Thompson in Luverne. She graduated from Luverne High School in 2015. She spent her college summers working at the Luverne Country Club as a bartender/waitress sharing her quick wit and spunky personality with members and staff.
Brooke graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall, in 2018 with a major in psychology and minors in sociology and Spanish. She moved to Duluth in August 2018 to work at Lutheran Social Services as a supervised visit worker.
In October 2018 she moved back to Luverne and joined the Blue Mound Figure Skating coaching staff for the 2018-2019 season. In January 2019 she began working as a child care assistant at Kids Club in Rock Rapids, Iowa.  In February 2019 she was accepted into the master’s program at the University of South Dakota to pursue a degree in social work. Brooke had plans of becoming an elementary school counselor or social worker at the Sanford Children’s Castle in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Brooke loved spending time with family and friends. As her friends would say, “Brooke is the glue that holds everyone together.” She especially adored her nieces Nevaeh and Taya.  They were a huge part of her world. Her smile, passion and sparkle added so much love to the Blue Mound Figure Skating family. She loved sparkle and bling and was the keeper of the sparkles at the ice shows.  She enjoyed dancing and loved being part of the SMSU Dance Team as well as her time coaching for the Marshall Figure Skating Club. She also enjoyed tubing, wakeboarding, and shopping.
Brooke is survived by her parents, Wayne and Mary Thompson, Luverne; a sister, Courtney (Andrew) DeBoer, Luverne; a brother, Nathan Thompson (special friend, Kara Weller), Luverne; two nieces, Nevaeh and Taya DeBoer; grandparents Allen and Barb Spartz, Luverne; eight uncles and aunts, Dan Spartz, Dayton, Lynn (Rick) Richters, Luverne, Susie Spartz, Burnsville, Rich (Kelly) Spartz, Blaine, Dave Spartz, Luverne, Warren (Cleone) Thompson, Pequot Lakes, Diane (John) Schullo, Chanhassen, and Jean (Jim) Noonan, Richfield; 16 cousins; and many friends and her Blue Mound Figure Skating family.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Torleif and Arlene Thompson; a cousin, Aaron Thompson; and  Baby DeBoer.
