Betty Iveland Nath, 93, Luverne, died Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the Mary Good Samaritan Society Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne.
A memorial service was Monday, July 22, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. Burial of cremains was in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
Betty Hulbert was born on March 31, 1926, to Albert and Maude (Irwin) Hulbert in Luverne. She attended school in Luverne.
She married Orville Iveland, and they became the parents of seven children: Susan, Loree, Kaye, Dan, Dick, Kris and Rod. They were later divorced.
On Jan. 14, 1967, she married Carl Nath at Grace Lutheran Church.
Throughout her working days Betty was involved in food service. In 1968 she and Carl decided to purchase the café where Betty had worked for several years. Together they operated Nath’s Recreation and Café until 1976. Betty then became employed at The Pantry, then in the bakery/deli at Glen’s Grocery where she worked until her retirement.
Betty was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, going fishing, watching "Wheel of Fortune" and doing jigsaw puzzles. She loved her family, looking at her photo albums, going for rides around town, McDonald’s cheeseburgers and ice cream.
Betty is survived by her children, Kaye (William) Nytes, Adrian, Dan (Deb) Iveland, Dick (LaDonna) Iveland and Kris (Chuck) Waknitz, all of Luverne; a son-in-law, Larry Brown, Boise, Idaho; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; daughters Susan Blankartz, and Loree Brown; son Rod Iveland; grandsons Shane Brown and Sam Waknitz; great-granddaughter Brandy Burell; and siblings Russ, Art and Lloyd Hulbert, Helen Christensen and Jessie Bell.
