Audrey Jean Gabrielson, 94, Luverne, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage.
A memorial service was Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. A private family committal of cremains preceded the service.
Audrey Luethje was born April 5, 1925, to Albert and Irene “Babe” Luethje in Hartley, Iowa. At the age of three months, she was brought to Luverne by her parents, where she grew up, attended school and graduated from Luverne High School in 1943. After graduation, she worked in Minneapolis at Honeywell, in Denver, Colorado, at the Nay Company, and at Nelson Brothers in Luverne.
Audrey married John R. Gabrielson on March 12, 1946. The couple farmed in the Luverne area for fourteen years. Audrey worked for the J. C. Penney Company in Luverne and later in the Penney stores in the Phoenix, Arizona, area, where they relocated in 1972. Audrey was a store trainer and customer service supervisor for the Paradise Valley store when she retired from the company in 1988 after thirty years of service. Audrey and John moved back to Luverne in 1999.
Audrey was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne, sang in the choir for many years, belonged to Couples Club, Graduation Club, Red Hat Society, RSVP and several card clubs.
 
She enjoyed her family, time at the family cabin in northern Minnesota and the outdoors, camping, nature, bird watching, flowers, swimming, bicycling, singing, beading, and jig-saw puzzles.
Audrey is survived by three children, Kent (Gail) Gabrielson, Buckeye, Arizona, Mark (Reverend Mari) Gabrielson, Hales Corners, Wisconsin, and Sue Radell, Menahga; five grandchildren, Tari (Rob) Hayden, Jason (Anita) Gabrielson, Kori Radell, Devin Radell and Denae Kayser; three step grandchildren, John Henke, Holly Henke and Wendy Howell; seven great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; one brother, Keith (Betty) Luethje, Luverne; and many cousins, nephew and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John, on July 3, 2004.
