Anita Marie Cook, 73, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, in Shelton, Washington.
A memorial service was Monday, Nov. 30, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne with burial at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
Anita Godfrey was born March 7, 1942, to Otis and Lois (Schlicht) Godfrey at the Luverne Community Hospital in Luverne. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Following her graduation from Luverne High School in 1960 she attended beauty school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She became a hairdresser in Webster, South Dakota, and later in Luverne.
On June 6, 1971, Anita married Ronald Cook at St. John Lutheran Church. As Ron was in the United States Navy, they lived in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Illinois. Following Ron’s retirement the couple returned to Minnesota and lived in the Twin Cities area. In 2008 they moved to Shelton, Washington.
Anita kept active in her church. Through the years she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, participated in the quilting guild and was a member of a card group through her church in Shelton.
Anita is survived by her husband, Ron; a daughter, Jennifer, St. Paul Park; her siblings, George (Donna) Godfrey, Virginia, Carol (Robert) Lundholm, Plymouth, and Cathlaine Godfrey, Shelton, Washington; a sister-in-law, Janice Godfrey, Shakopee; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, James Godfrey and Linda Godfrey.
