Alice Lorraine Severtson, 93, Hills, died Wednesday, March 25, at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills.
       A funeral with Christian burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be given to Tuff Memorial Home in Hills.
       Alice Wiesner was born on April 22, 1926, to Louie and Agnes (Koppman) Wiesner near Clear Lake, South Dakota, where she grew up in a farming community. She attended the Sioux Valley School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and received her nursing degree in 1947. She worked as a nurse and nursing director in Denver and Fairplay, Colorado, until her marriage.
       She married Virgil Severtson on June 12, 1949. The couple settled on the Severtson family homestead in Hills, where they lived until retiring in Pipestone in 1988. She continued her nursing career, culminating with her position as director of nursing at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills.
       Alice continued working in her nursing profession well into her 80s as a nurse consultant for Progress, a day care center for disabled adults.
       Alice was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone. She was recognized as a blue ribbon baker and an African violet grower at the fair. She enjoyed playing bridge and was also a gifted pianist and organist.
       Alice is survived by a son, Lyndon Severtson of Hills, and four daughters Marie (Ed) Crouch of Yorktown, Virginia, Yvonne (Phil) Hoffman of Colton, South Dakota, Cynthia (Marc) Aldrich of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Teresa (Jon) Klosterman of Pipestone; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother Larry (Debbie) Wiesner;  and many nieces and nephews.
       Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; her parents; and her sister, Lucille Wiesner King.
