Al Peterson, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in Bellingham, Washington.
He was born April 29, 1925, in Edgerton, Minnesota, to Albert I. and Violet (Ray) Peterson. Al graduated from Edgerton High School, earned his B.A. at Hamline University and his M.A. at Cal State University Los Angeles. Al was a teacher, coach, and school principal for many years.  He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
He enjoyed golf, camping, dancing and travel. He will be remembered as a hard worker who also liked to have fun.
He was a dedicated and active church member, a Mason, and an active member of Kiwanis. 
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Peterson, in 1986, his second wife, Lorraine Peterson, in 2003, his companion Norma Vacio in 2016, and infant daughter Pamela Peterson.
Al is survived by his daughter Patricia (Jim) Hawley of Bellingham, Washington; son Pete (Suzanne) Peterson of Lawrence, Kansas; grandchildren James Hawley, Rachel (Jason) Sounders, Samantha Peterson and Michael Peterson; great-grandchildren A.J., Ryan, James and Ellie; and many loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home, 504 N. 4th St. in Edgerton, Minnesota at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 16th followed by a 12:00 noon graveside service with full military honors at Hillside Cemetery in Edgerton.
