Harsh conditions don’t hinder LHS and H-BC track athletes

Luverne and Hills-Beaver Creek track and field teams traveled to the Pipestone Invitational Saturday, April 20.

Conditions at the meet were cold and windy, with athletes competing in gloves, hats and leggings and donning layers between events.

Girls’ softball team wins three games, loses three in busy week of ball

The Luverne High School softball team went 3-3 this past week.

Against Jackson County Central, LHS won one game  7-4 and lost one game 0-15 in doubleheader action Thursday, April 18, at Jackson.

Luverne baseball team takes four games, wins MACA Invitational championship

The Luverne baseball team won four games in the past week, including winning the 2024 MACA (Morris Area/ Chokio-Alberta) Baseball Invitational in Morris.

This puts the Cardinals’ record at 5-4 after a rocky start to the season.

Cool conditions and wind hamper play between LHS and H-BC golf teams

The Luverne and Hills-Beaver Creek golf teams played on the Patriots’ home course, Meadow Acres Golf Club, in Larchwood, Iowa Thursday, April 18.

Conditions were cool and windy, but the course was green and spongy after recent rains.

Jarchow named NCCAA National Player of the Week

Elise Jarchow, a 2021 Luverne High School graduate, was named the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) National Player of the Week in women’s tennis Monday, April 22.

As a junior Jarchow plays tennis for the University of Northwestern in St. Paul.

The Luverne boys’ and girls’ golf teams participated in the Big South Division tournament Monday, April 22, in Redwood Falls.
