Some COVID-19 changes could stay as we figure out 'our new normal'

Staying positive was one of my main goals as the pandemic began to impact us in mid-March.

As the weeks – and  now months – have gone on, it’s gotten somewhat harder to stay positive for me, and maybe for you, too. 

In order to focus on the positive, I’ve been making a mental list of the changes COVID-19 has brought that I hope remain long term.

H-BC students selected for All-State band

Hills-Beaver Creek High School sophomore Tess Van Maanen will perform in the Minnesota Music Educators Association All-State program.

Sophomore classmate Tara Paulsen was selected as an alternate.

State convention goes virtual

Local FFA chapters didn’t have to travel far to participate in the annual Minnesota FFA State Convention.

The high school students turned to their computers for this year’s event May 19-21. Organizers planned speakers, workshops, award presentations and evening activities for chapter members to experience virtually.

•Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s unallotments to Local Government Aid are coming up more frequently in conversations at Luverne City Council meetings.

At Tuesday’s meeting, unallotments came up during discussion about routine street maintenance.
