Phyllis Ann Jones was born Jan. 21, 1943. Much of her childhood was spent in the Midwest and the family eventually settled in Bay Village, Ohio.
Phyllis attended Stephens College in Columbia Missouri, where she met and married Hank Williams. Work moves took them to Kansas and then to Cincinnati, Ohio. The family moved to Tampa in 1975 and enjoyed living in Carrollwood. Phyllis drove carpools, taught Jazzercise, volunteered in PTA and the Service League and the Carrollwood Garden Club. She enjoyed romance novels, ski trips with the Tampa Bay Snow Skiers and time on the lake and on Anna Maria Island.
Phyllis loved dancing and spent time honing her moves with various dance groups when she wasn’t working in the Boutique at Stein Mart. Her favorite was Carolina Beach Music. Through dance clubs she met her favorite dance partner, Bill Murphy. They danced their way through a 22-year marriage and have enjoyed traveling and watching their blended family grow. They enjoyed sharing in the events of their 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Bill Murphy, brothers Ric and Mike Jones, children Shari Palasti, Diana McClanahan, and Micky Williams, stepchildren Kim Murphy, Kathy Condon, and Connie Vandevelde, as well as 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
