Annetta Wiese

Annetta Wiese, 93, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018.

Her funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 27, at Community Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with burial at Hills of Rest Cemetery.

Annetta Bouwman was born Sept. 6, 1924, to William and Hendrika (Boon) Bouwman in Alvord, Iowa.  She grew up in the Lester, Iowa, area and received her education in country schools near Alvord and Lester. Annetta then worked as a waitress at Shriver’s Tea Room in Sioux Falls and at Van’s Food Market in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

Annetta married Vernon Wiese on Feb. 5, 1952, at the Reformed Church in Doon, Iowa. Annetta was a homemaker and assisted with farm work at the couple’s farm near Ellsworth. The couple moved to Sioux Falls in 1988.

While on the farm, Annetta was a member of the State Line Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. The couple later joined Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth before joining Community Reformed Church in Sioux Falls.

Annetta is survived by four children, Terry (Carmen) Wiese, Spirit Lake, Iowa, Sherry (William) Baal, Brandon, South Dakota, Barbara (Daniel) Gertsema, Overland Park, Kansas, Carol Hausauer, Olathe, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Tilstra, Edith (Alvin) Hoogendoorn, both of Sioux Falls, and Angela Faber, Inwood, Iowa; four brothers, Walter (Joan) Bouwman, Artesia, California, A. James (Esther) Bouwman, William (Carol) Bouwman, both of Rock Valley, Iowa, and John (Paula) Bouwman, Fredericksburg, Texas.

Annetta was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, on Dec. 17, 2007; her parents; her stepmother, Renetta Bouwman; two brothers, Edward Bouwman and Henry Bouwman; a sister, Martina Van Den Brink; and a son-in-law, James Hausauer.

Memorials are preferred to Union Gospel Mission in Sioux Falls.
