Rock County’s lone entrant in the Minnesota 4-H State Dog Show took the champion agility ribbon at the Sept. 23-24 event.
Rebecca Austin of Luverne and her dog, Tessa, competed in the Grades 3-8 Jumpers 1 Agility event, coming away with top honors.
Austin received blue ribbons in three other events – beginner agility, beginner obedience and pre-novice rally, where she also received an award of excellence.
In these events, dogs are judged on athleticism, briskness, confidence and the handler’s control over the course.
In the rally event, dogs are judged on obedience as they make their way through an obstacle course.
Austin is a member of the Denver Go-Getters 4-H Club.
