Fifteen students from Southwest Youth Services in Magnolia spent Wednesday, Nov. 2, in Luverne for their third annual Community Service Day. According to teacher Paula Lammert, the school received names of residents who could use help raking and moving leaves to the curb for pickup by city of Luverne employees. While enjoying a sunny day off from classes, the students’ learning did not stop. “Community Day is about giving the boys an understanding of a working community,” said Carol Naasz, SWYS education director.
