Robert Boyd Siebenahler, 88, rural Jasper, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at the Pipestone Avera Hospice Center.
A funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Luverne.
Robert Siebenahler was born April 4, 1928, to John and Lorraine (Frisch) Siebenahler in Luverne. He grew up on a farm in the Hardwick area until his parents moved to Luverne. He graduated from the eighth grade at a country school north of the farm. He began working for a plumbing company in Luverne and later was employed at Hatting Gravel Co. in Luverne.
Bob married Gerda Johnson on Aug. 23, 1950, in Luverne. Bob farmed all of his married life near the Hardwick and Jasper areas until he retired and began renting out his land. In 2012 Bob suffered a stroke. He was recovering very well until October 25, 2016, when he suffered another stroke.
Bob enjoyed polka music and fishing.
He is survived by four children, Gene Siebenahler, rural Jasper; Mark (Wendy) Siebenahler, Cold Spring; Lyle (Nancy) Siebenahler, Pipestone; and Monica (Don) Flora, Flandreau, South Dakota; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leon Siebenahler, Luverne; and a sister, Theresa Winger, Killeen, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gerda, on Oct. 20, 1997; a son, Allen, in 1978; a daughter-in-law, June, in 2005; and three brothers, Luverne, Lloyd and Arnold Siebenahler.
