Josephine M. Rober, 102, Luverne, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at the Lyngblomsten Care Center in St. Paul.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
Josephine Bergman was born Oct. 22, 1914, to Johanes and Grace (Welp) Bergman on a farm near Steen. She attended District 62 country school near Ellsworth and later graduated from Ellsworth High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Sioux Falls.
Josephine married Charles William Rober on Dec. 26, 1935, at the Ebenezer Church in Ellsworth. After their marriage they made their home in Luverne.  Josephine taught from 1933 to 1976 at Steen, Beaver Creek, Hardwick and Luverne schools.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne, where she was the organist for thirteen years. Josephine taught piano and organ to students from the Luverne area. She also belonged to the Royal Neighbors organization. She enjoyed music, sewing, reading, cooking, sharing baked goods with friends and neighbors, and spending time with her family.
 Josephine is survived by two daughters, Eleanor Van Guilder, White Bear Lake, and Kathie Erickson, Minnetonka; three grandchildren, Kyle (Katya) Van Guilder, Dirk (Jennifer) Erickson and Leah (Mike) Berkland; four great-grandchildren, Peyton Berkland, Zilya Van Guilder, Zoe Erickson and Whitten Berkland; and many nieces and nephews.
