Rock County received the last of its flood relief monies for repairing agricultural land damaged two years ago.
The additional $347,000 brings the total amount received in the county to just over $1.784 million.
Doug Bos, assistant director of the county’s Soil and Water Conservation District/Land Management Office, delivered the news to the Board of Supervisors at their Sept. 12 meeting.
“This is possibly our final amount of flood relief monies,” Bos said.
Since receiving flood relief monies a year ago, the SWCD has approved 47 contracts totaling more than $805,000.
Many of the producers making flood repairs have been able to combine funding with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, stretching flood dollars to more projects, Bos said.
Flood events of June 2014 caused an estimated $2.8 million in damages to ag land.
More than 165 producers have contacted the Land Management Office about repairs or improvements.
The next scheduled meeting of the Board of Soil and Water is set for Nov. 21. No meeting will take place in October due to harvest unless a special meeting is called.
