Board members with the Luverne Convention and Visitors Bureau took a little extra time deciding the winners of the June Prairie Photo Contest.
Chosen were a sunrise photo at Blue Mounds State Park by Debbie Kippen of Blaine and a prairie storm photo by Dan Harrington of Adrian.
“The board had a real challenge trying to select two of the photos out of the many that were submitted,” said Jane Wildung-Lanphere, Luverne Area Chamber director.
“It is exciting to see these images taken when you are in the right place at the right time.”
Winners earned $50 and their images will be made into postcards. The postcards will be sold to support programs at Blue Mounds State Park and Touch the Sky Prairie.
The Prairie Photo Contest continues every month through October as park of this summer’s celebration of the 150th anniversary of Minnesota state parks and the 100th anniversary of America’s national parks.
Photos must be submitted digitally (at least 300 PPI or higher) by the first of each month to luvernechamber@co.rock.mn.us. Include name, address, phone number, email and the title of the photo with each submission. A maximum of five entries are accepted per person per month.
All photos submitted in May and June and not selected for the postcard are eligible for the July through October selection process.
