July 22
•Complainant reported hearing two possible gunshots coming from his backyard where the apartments are in Beaver Creek. Complainant then reported that he may or may not have confronted an individual about the sounds in the apartment lawn. When dispatch further questioned complainant, he said he did confront someone. Dispatch could not get much more information as complainant was intoxicated.
•Complainant called again and reported that he suspects there may be drugs involved in the last call. Complainant was still quite intoxicated.
•Complainant requested a deputy as soon as possible, as the subject from the two previous incoming calls was at their place and acting strange.
•Complainant reported that the gravel trucks are not securing their loads, and gravel is sandblasting his vehicle every time he meets one of the trucks.
•Complainant reported that he was driving on the 1500 block of County Road 4, and a gravel truck did not have his vehicle covered, and he sprayed his vehicle with gravel.
•Complainant reported a theft that she would like to speak with someone about.
•Complainant reported that there was a white male walking westbound at location. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and holding up his thumb. She was concerned with the heat that he was OK. Unsure if he broke down or was just hitching a ride.
•Complainant reported debris in the road on I-90 between mile markers two and three. Transferred to State Patrol.
•Complained reported a fire in Sioux Falls. Transferred to South Dakota dispatch.
•Complainant reported a car broke down on I-90 in South Dakota. Transferred call to South Dakota.
•Complainant requested to speak to a deputy about getting some belongings from her residence.
•Complainant reported a commercial fire alarm. Fire chief advised no fire. The sprinkler broke and leaked water on the third floor. He also advised building maintenance is in charge now, and water is shut off for a while. The cleaning process has begun.
•Complainant reported a car with South Dakota plates on 115th Street since 4:30 a.m. today. Deputy checked on vehicle and advised it is leaking a little antifreeze, so it must have broken down. He will check to see if it is still there tomorrow.
July 23
•Complainant reported a vehicle that is for sale with its lights on. Deputy confirmed it, and dispatch notified the owner.
•Complainant reported two people in dark clothing on Highway 75 and 151st Street walking south toward Luverne. Trooper heard the call dispatched and relayed that he had already picked them up and dropped them off at Casey’s.
•Complainant reported he had a former employee come to his place and yell at him. Subject was going to Jaycox to clean out his vehicle, and complainant wanted to give us a heads up that he has gotten out of hand at Jaycox before.
•Complainant reported their vehicle broke down, and they already called for a tow, but they need a ride to a different hotel because the rate is too high at the one they’re at, and it is too hot to walk.
•Complainant reported threat of suicide, but the subject was in Oklahoma. Complainant was calling from Murray County and was advised to contact the local police department where the subject lives.
•Monitoring company reported that subject tested a 0.018 the first time, and 0.015 the next time. Requested his probation officer be notified.
•Complainant reported she got a flat tire on I-90 mile marker four. Also notified State Patrol.
•Complainant reported her son ran away and is possibly in Sioux Falls. He returned home on July 25.
•Complainant called 911 and reported a man she knows came to her apartment last night to try to sleep with her, and she doesn’t want anything to do with him. She wants deputies to arrest him if he comes back.
•Complainant reported two missing bikes taken from a driveway sometime between July 22 at 6 p.m. and July 23 at 6:30 p.m. Bikes were recovered.
•Deputy reported a concerned neighbor asked him to check residence because the owners are out of town, and there is a light on. Deputy did check residence, and everything is OK.
•Complainant reported a suspicious silver/grey minivan driving up and down the road at location. He has seen it go back and forth three to four times today, and it is out of the ordinary.
•Complainant reported that she wants an individual to stay away from her sister’s residence. Deputy advised she needs to get an order for protection. Referred her to the crisis center.
•Complainant requested a room voucher for a patient that was just discharged. No rooms were available in Luverne.
July 24
•Complainant reported a loud keg party taking place on the 100 block of North Spring Street. Complainant wants someone to talk to them about the noise.
•Lyon County Iowa Sheriff’s Office requested assistance with an alcohol violation.
•Complainant requested a residence check while they are out of town.
•Complainant reported beer cans and garbage on the 100 block of North Spring Street. Dispatch made contact with subject who said he would clean it up. Deputy advised when he went by later they were out cleaning it up.
•Complainant requested to speak to deputy about her ex not bringing her daughter back to her.
•Complainant reported some of their lawn ornaments have been stolen.
•Complainant reported at least three individuals arguing on the road east of their residence. Two are out of the vehicle, and one driving. They are unsure if there are more in the vehicle. Trooper advised silver car with three occupants. Two black females. It left headed north on Highway 23.
•Complainant reported that one of their guests lost his wallet last night, and the guest would like a call if found. Guest does not speak very good English.
•Complainant requested traffic on Barck Avenue be monitored because cars have been speeding down the road, and she has kids and lives right across from a day care.
•Complainant reported a group of adults and children harassing people driving and walking by on the 100 block of North Freeman Avenue. Complainant called back to report a fight had broken out between subjects. Deputies arrested two men for assault and took them to jail.
•Complainant reported he caught someone trying to break into his car. They fled north from location in a white four-door sedan with unknown plates. Troopers stopped vehicle at South Kniss Avenue by Casey’s. Juveniles brought to Rock County Sheriff’s Office and parents were called.
July25
•Complainant reported a threat being made via phone calls.
•Complainant reported his son is being scammed and harassed via Craigslist.
•Complainant reported that she closed on her new house at 10 a.m. this morning, and the former owners will not relinquish the keys because they said the money hadn’t been transferred into their account yet. Wanted someone to come out there so things didn’t get out of hand.
•Complainant reported two or three bikes at the park that have been there for a couple of days. Owner had called them in previously. Returned to owner.
•Complainant reported kids are parking on the bridge, and the semis can’t get through. He said he spoke to the kids, and they won’t move. Deputy reported only one vehicle parked on the bridge. Advised to move it and not park there. Other vehicles were off the bridge, and there was plenty of room to go past.
•Complainant reported two eighth-grade girls were driving this morning. They were swerving, speeding and blew a stop sign.
July 26
•Complainant reported he can see between three and six juvenile females and two males on his cameras possibly trying to get into cars around location. Deputies were in the area at the time of the call, and there was no one around.
•Complainant reported he keeps seeing lights outside.
•Complainant called back sounding agitated about a man being back. Said he was going outside then hung up. This is the third time subject has called, and he sounds like he’s under the influence. Deputies are in the area because of the calls, and there is no one around.
•Complainant requested a deputy to remove some unwanted guests. Her drug addict son and his girlfriend are there. The girlfriend got on the phone and said she is trying to get her stuff. Send the cops.
•Complainant reported possible child abuse/neglect.
•Complainant reported theft of property. Called back and said it was found elsewhere on the property.
•Complainant reported a 10-12 year old boy is riding his bike down the middle of the road, on County Road 4 eastbound from Luverne. Cars are swerving around him, and he doesn’t seem to notice.
•Complainant reported the possible theft of a check.
•Complainant requested to speak to a deputy about a drug free building.
•Complainant reported three hanging lights were stolen over the weekend from her neighbor’s lawn.
•Complainant reported he is 12 years old and home alone. His mother is not in the house, and there is a strange SUV in the driveway. Mother ended up being out in the yard talking with the neighbors.
•Complainant reported subject is at her door again and wants him to leave. Upon arrival of deputies, the subject was gone.
July 27
•Complainant reported a vehicle that has been in the library parking lot without a tire for several days. The county would like it moved. Deputy notified mother of vehicle owner to have it moved or it would be towed.
•Complainant reported a white male with a ponytail and a ball cap walking around their building taking pictures of the outside, and when approached about what he was doing, hurriedly went to his vehicle without saying anything. Man was passenger in a mid 1980’s grey Impala with a burgundy pin stripe. A woman was driving, and a teenage male in the backseat.
•Complainant reported a white pickup pulling a trailer took the curve so fast it almost hit her. Pickup was headed west toward Luverne. Complainant is willing to sign a complaint.
•Complainant reported a 99 Chevy Blazer kept driving past his house. Now it is a different truck but same person that keeps driving past. Complainant reported male was white, with glasses, dark blonde hair, balding in the front and approximately 65-70 years of age.
•Two parties called to report each other following and harassing them. Both parties came to the Law Enforcement Center to talk to deputies.
•Complainant reported she is with a homeless female and wants assistance finding her someplace to stay.
•Complainant reported a woman stealing fans at the City Centre apartments. Deputy arrested her and took her to jail.
•Complainant reported a man walking at location 1.5 miles south of Hardwick. She is concerned for his safety. He is wearing a blue shirt and a Cardinals ball cap.
July 28
•Complainant requested deputies extra patrol between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. during the fair due to issues with carnival employees harassing employees in the past.
•Complainant requested a deputy to show him something that concerned him.
•Complainant requested deputies to southeast corner of building. Deputy advised it was an argument, and both parties were advised to stay clear of each other. They were told to work through any issues about the building with Dunham Management.
•Complainant reported some of her customers advised they saw a salt block in the middle of the road on I-90 eastbound at mile marker 9.
•Complainant requested a fireman to come out to see if she has a fire started in her house. She’s not sure if her fan started a fire in her roof or not. She was advised that we would have to page the fire department. Complainant said she did not want the fire department sent.
•Deputy gave a juvenile male a ride home from the fair, and he was left with the babysitter.
•Complainant reported that a friend of hers fell for a Skype act where he performed sexual acts on camera and was recorded and now is being threatened by the recorder to pay money or the video will be released to the Internet and to his social media.
In addition, officers responded to 1 motor vehicle accident, 1 deer accident, 2 transports, 1 funeral escort, 3 traffic stops, 17 ambulance runs, 2 paper services, 9 animal complaints, 4 false alarms, 3 false 911 calls, 3 fingerprint requests, 7 log/alarm sheets, 8 drug court tests, and issued 11 purchase/carry permits and 4 burn permits.
