Dispatch report
July 8
•Complainant reported that she hit something in the road on Highway 75, and she is now on the ramp with a flat tire and a bent rim. Sent deputy to help and notified State Patrol. Patrol took over.
•Complainant reported vandalism to her vehicle and her yard.
•Complainant reported that they had a plane that filed a flight plan to land here in Luverne at the airport. The pilot has not called in to report landing. He requested a deputy to go to the airport to see if the plane was there. Deputy located plane at the airport.
•Sheriff arrested subject for a warrant out of Rock County.
•Complainant reported she had shampoo, razors, Oakley sunglasses and a laptop computer stolen from her car today.
•Complainant reported a male pushing a female around behind a business on Highway 75.
•Deputies arrested subject for Fifth Degree possession of methamphetamine and marijuana with child in the residence and took him to jail.
July 9
•Complainant reported a 911 call with nobody on the line. Dispatch called back and the phone had gone to voice mail. A second call was received and the woman on the line said she needed to be transferred to Minnehaha County 911.
•Complainant reported that subject came to her house to pick up their son and walked into her house. She does not want him in her house. Complainant says this should be a trespassing issue.
•Complainant reported he suspects a woman who lives in his building is stealing license plates. Also, the vehicle has had dealer plates longer than 30 days. Vehicle is a gold and gray Ford Explorer.
•Complainant called 911 and requested Pipestone County Dispatch for unsupervised children at the Jasper softball fields. Transferred to Pipestone.
•Complainant called in and she first asked if the deputy that arrested her was in. When she found out he wasn’t, she asked if the sheriff was in, and when she was informed he will be back Monday, she asked for a sergeant. She stated she does not know where the paperwork she needs for court is at, and she talked scattered about what happened on her traffic stop that resulted in a DWI.
•Complainant reported a white Dodge Durango with South Dakota license plates driving around Steen. The occupants did come to her house attempting to sell cleaning products.
•Complainant requested deputy for argument at front desk of the motel. Complainant advised she is a translator. Deputy advised it was an argument between coworkers. One of the subjects is leaving for the day.
•Complainant requested a welfare check on subject because she has not been able to get ahold of him via phone and he has been sick. Deputy found subject deceased. Hartquist Funeral Home was contacted.
•Complainant reported four boys on bikes chasing rabbits into people’s yards and throwing rocks.
July 10
•Complainant reported seeing a vehicle near the park after closing hours. Deputies found two juveniles. They were both warned about curfew. Deputy will be notifying their parents.
•Complainant reported that her street is full of water from the rain, and she is scared to go to church. Dispatch will send a deputy and call her back with the road conditions. Deputy reported that there was no water at complainant’s location.
•Complainant called 911 to report he was taking his daughter from Washington to Michigan. He advised his sister-in-law said she was going to put out an amber alert because the mother is in Korea. Advised caller to notify the local law enforcement where he took her from.
•Complainant reported a boy of approximately two years old left alone in a vehicle outside Shopko. All the windows on the car are down. Complainant called back to advise there was someone in the car with the child. They were lying down on the seat.
•Dispatch received several calls regarding audible fire alarm at City Centre Apartments. Paged Luverne Fire Department.
July 11
•Complainant requested assistance on I-90 eastbound exit 18. Vehicle broke down with trailer, and they have four kids. Deputy transported woman and four children to Super 8.
•Complainant reported two teenage girls walking in area of location. Didn’t appear to have any vehicles in the area. Notified State Patrol.
•Complainant reported vehicle has been sitting in their parking lot for a long time and didn’t mention to the church that it would be parked there. Deputy contacted owner’s father, and he said it was broken down, but he could be there to take care of getting it out of there.
•Deputy found a smartphone that doesn’t look like it’s been there too long. It was brought to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, and owner was notified and picked up the phone.
•Complainant reported her mother signed a contract and gave a company $17,000. She did not get a copy of the contract, and now her money is gone.
•Dispatch received a call of a tailgater on I-90 eastbound mile marker 1. State Patrol out of position and deputy unable to locate.
•Reserved for all units out for a fire drill.
•Complainant reported threatening texts being sent to him and someone trying to extort money from him about things that are not happening.
•Complainant reported person at location in Steen mowing lawn at 11 p.m.
July 12
•Complainant reported she and her boyfriend had tires slashed on their vehicles overnight.
•Complainant reported he had some fishing gear taken out of the bed of his vehicle during the night.
•Complainant reported they found a purse on the 300 block of North Spring Street.
•Complainant reported someone slashed his back tire.
•Deputy reported siding was scattered on County Road 7 east of Hardwick and he cleared it off.
•Complainant reported someone went into his vehicle and took cash and other items during the night.
•Complainant brought in two EBT cards, a Glen’s Rewards card, and two library cards that were found in his yard.
•Complainant reported his brother’s pickup was at his house last night, unlocked, and someone stole tools, a radar detector and maybe some other items.
•Complainant reported concerns about a child in a bad situation.
•Reserved for narcotic information.
•Complainant requested a deputy accompany her to location to help her locate some kids that may be in the area.
•Complainant requested to speak with a deputy about a personal/civil matter.
•Complainant requested a residence check for about a week.
•Complainant reported her husband found a wallet on their lawn. It has an ID card in it. She will drop it off in the morning.
•Complainant reported keys locked in vehicle at location. Deputy requested G&S for unlock.
July 13
•Reserved for emergency response unit callout to Slayton.
•Complainant reported subject has been consuming alcohol. Notified probation officer.
•Complainant reported that her vehicle in her garage had been rummaged through.
•Complainant reported a theft from his vehicle. Some of the things were strewn on the neighbor’s lawn.
•Complainant reported theft of a Gerber multi-tool from his garage.
•Complainant reported his vehicle was gone through last night.
•Complainant requested a welfare check on subject. He may need an ambulance. Deputy checked, and everything was fine. Subject will call if he needs help.
•Deputy located a vehicle with no one around located on County Road 4 east of 110th Avenue.
•Complainant reported someone went through her vehicle last night.
•Complainant reported that she and her kids were walking around the area, and there is an adult-sized black and red bike leaning against a light pole at The Lake. She believes it to be abandoned.
•Complainant reported she was passed by a vehicle doing a very high rate of speed, like she was standing still, between Magnolia and Luverne. The driver was a young male. She did not report it right away as she wanted to get close enough to see the plates.
•Complainant reported that a black backpack with an STI South East Vo-tech logo on the front was found lying open in his front yard with black size 13 Nike tennis shoes sitting nearly on the ground beside it, and the only item in the bag are swimming goggles.
•Complainant reported that his car was gone through. Nothing appears to be missing.
•Complainant reported that subject is off his meds and causing problems. Subject was taken to the emergency room for evaluation.
•Complainant reported that last night he went to ride his moped and his back plate was gone. Not sure when it would have gone missing but the bolts holding it on were tight.
•Complainant reported that there would be a large enclosed trailer parked on the south side of the school lot overnight and would be moved in the morning. They would like to be notified if this is a problem.
•Deputy was flagged down by a party regarding a vehicle on the sidewalk of the 500 block of West Lincoln Street. Deputy spoke with owner and he will remove the vehicle from the sidewalk.
•Complainant reported she is being harassed by a couple of people.
•Deputy arrested subject for being drunk and disorderly. He was taken to jail.
•Complainant called in several times complaining about neighbors who are harassing her. Deputies went and spoke with neighbors and also spoke with complainant, but she continued to call and say they were harassing her. While she was speaking with a deputy about what was going on, two other deputies were right by her house and did not see or hear anything. She called back to say that they were now being quiet and she didn’t know what to do.
•Complainant reported a male in his 60s seeking medication at location. Subject said he has a brain injury and is off his medication. Complainant directed subject to the Sanford Luverne Hospital. Subject left location in a smaller red car. Complainant would like a deputy to drive through the lot to ensure her employees are safe.
July 14
•Deputies were out on foot patrol due to recent thefts from vehicles.
•Complainant reported a woman is walking south on Blue Mound Avenue away from the group home at location. Caller says subject is upset because she missed the bus to work at RCO. She was located.
•Complainant requested to speak to a deputy regarding getting into his house.
•Complainant reported that an elderly couple had a flat tire at location. State Patrol was notified.
•Complainant reported that there was a lady in Glen’s parking lot with a red vehicle with the hood up going around asking for money to help fix her vehicle. Deputy spoke with management, and it is a scam. She has tried this is Sioux Falls. She was driving a maroon minivan with no plates. A Texas truck left at the same time. Unsure if the two are related. Notified Chamber to send out an alert.
•Complainant reported that someone found a driver’s license outside. She would hang on to it and give it to a deputy when he stops by. Deputy stopped by and picked it up.
•Complainant reported that he got a letter from the chamber about a red van with no plates and a Texas pickup truck soliciting. Deputy spoke to the two parties belonging to the vehicle, and told them if they were soliciting again, they would be asked to leave town. They denied soliciting. Vehicle was more orange than red.
•Deputy stopped to assist a motorist at the I-90 ramp and Highway 75. Motorist was just checking cell phone for hotels. Everything was OK.
•Complainant reported they found some keys downtown and turned them over to the sheriff. They were later claimed by the owner.
•Complainant reported a domestic in progress.
•Dispatch received several complaints of the music on Main Street being too loud and running late.
In addition, officers responded to 1 motor vehicle accident, 1 deer accident, 2 transports, 2 funeral escorts, 24 traffic stops, 17 ambulance runs, 2 paper services, 8 animal complaints, 1 driver’s license check, 4 false 911 calls, 7 log/alarm sheets, 11 drug court tests, and issued 9 purchase/carry permits and 6 burn permits.
