Celine M. Klein, 89, Adrian, died Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Tuff Village in Hills.
A funeral mass was Tuesday, May 10, at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. Burial was at St. Adrian Cemetery.
Celine Scheffler was born Nov. 22, 1926, to John and Katherine (Gerardy) Scheffler in Westside Township, rural Adrian. She attended country school in rural Adrian. She later worked at the Donnelly Drug Store in Adrian.
Celine married Wilfred Klein Nov. 22, 1948, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellsworth. After their marriage the couple farmed in Westside Township southwest of Adrian. In 1991 they moved to Adrian. Celine became a resident of the Tuff Village on Nov. 20, 2013.
She was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, baking, praying, playing the guitar and harmonica, and especially spending time with her family.
Celine is survived by five children, Marilyn (Jim) Jellema, Hills, Duane (Chris) Klein, Rollingstone, Shirley (Steve) Top, Luverne, Tom (Sandy) Klein, Luverne, and Connie (Joel) Hesse, Jackson; fourteen grandchildren, Jodi (Chris) Harnack, Wade (Kylah) Jellema, Melissa (Charlie) Nesdahl, Kimberly (Josh) Schommer, Kelly (Dan) Schneeman, Tricia Painter, Stacy (Brent) Schepel, Amber (Joe) Reints, Jessica (Dallas) Hamm, Alyssa (Mike) Amborn, Brandon Klein, Bradley (Andrea) Hesse, Justin Hesse and Andrew Hesse; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Andrew Scheffler, Lismore; two sisters, Henrietta Bullerman, Adrian, and Mildred “Toddy” (Jim) Voss, Adrian; and two sisters-in-law, Rita Scheffler, Worthington, and Ida Scheffler, Cold Spring.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilfred Klein, in 1991; two sons, Ronnie in 1976 and Daryl in 1981; a sister, Rosemary Kellen; two brothers, John and Elmer Scheffler; two brothers-in-law, Raphael Kellen and Ted Bullerman III.; and a sister-in-law, Joanne Scheffler.
