Marcella Dorothy “Sally” Mielke, 99, New Ulm, died Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Center in Luverne.
A mass of Christian burial was Friday, April 22, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Burial followed in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Marcella Dorothy Mueller was born Oct. 4, 1916, to Joseph and Helena (Brandel) Mueller in West Newton Township, Nicollet County.
She married Leonard Mielke on Oct. 17, 1933, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. Sally was employed at Veigel’s Kaiserhoff where she was known as the “Rib Lady” from 1951 to 1996 when she retired.
Sally was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Christian Mothers Society and the Active Friends Extension Group. She enjoyed listening to oldtime music and tending her flower garden. Sally enjoyed playing scrabble with friends at the Senior Citizens Center, scrapbooking, and doll collecting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Sally is survived by her son, Leonard Mielke Jr., Cedar; three daughters, Carol Haycraft, Luverne, Jan Ginn, New Ulm, and Ruth (Richard) Koppen, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Mielke, Sleepy Eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sons, William Mielke in infancy and Richard Mielke,  and her sons-in-law Richard Haycraft and Richard “Dick” Ginn.
