Safe crossing at school

Lead Summary
,

Students cross a busy Highway 75 Monday afternoon when school dismissed at 3:15. In addition to the aid of crossing guards at the intersections of Barck and Dodge, pedestrians now have the added visibility of the new rapid rectangular flashing beacons that were installed last week. The new motion-sensor crossing lights are activated by pedestrians at the crosswalk. Once the lights are fully operational, crossing guards will no longer be necessary. However, until school children and drivers are instructed on the lights’ proper usage, the guards will continue their morning and afternoon duties.
