Saving lives, one unit at a time

Lead Summary

American Red Cross team leader Debra Jellema, Trimont, finishes up a blood donation by Luverne’s Tom Skattum Monday afternoon at Grace Lutheran Church. According to volunteers, the Red Cross easily met its goal of 38 units and said lines were long at times. They said it helps when donors make appointments ahead of time so the Red Cross can make sure the events are adequately staffed. Also the new RapidPass from the American Red Cross allows blood donors to register and answer questions online in order to save time when they arrive to donate blood. It’s at www.redcrossblood.org/rapidpass.
