Janice Lee Ward, 75, Hills, died Thursday, March 10, 2016, at her home in Hills.
A funeral service was Monday, March 14, 2016, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills. Burial followed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hills.
Janice Lee Hiney was born Sept. 16, 1940, to William and Pearl (Sogge) Hiney in Windom. She was raised in the Worthington area before moving to the Valley Springs, South Dakota, area where she attended high school.
On Aug. 16, 1959, Janice married Wayne Ward at Palisades Lutheran Church near Valley Springs. They lived in Hills. Janice worked at the Hills-Beaver Creek High School and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Janice was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills. She enjoyed crocheting beautiful blankets, and in her younger years she loved to square dance. She cherished life together with her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Ward, Hills; three children, Dave Ward and wife Judy Kunkel, Mountain Lake, Steve (Paula) Ward, Tea, South Dakota, and Wendy (Tim) Buss, Hills; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie (Darrell) Brown, Hills, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William Hiney and Dick Hiney; and two nephews, Terry Hiney and Lonnie Hiney.
