Blue Mound Figure Skaters successfully defend championship in Frosty Blades Competition

After a few local skaters competed at the New Ulm competition, the Blue Mound Figure Skaters hosted their own competition, Ice Crystal Classic, at the Blue Mound Ice Arena in January.
Last weekend, Feb. 5-7, the competitive team went to Blaine for the Frosty Blades event, where the team took first place. 
The local skaters competed in over 160 individual and team events.  Skating began Friday evening and ended Sunday afternoon.
Eighteen clubs were represented at the competition, and the Blue Mound Figure Skaters defended their championship by taking home the first-place trophy. 
The next competition for Blue Mound Figure Skaters is the Winter Miracle at Yankton, South Dakota, Feb. 10.
The skaters are coached by Sarah Nuffer, Katie Kopp, Sabrina Sowles, Cathy Shearer and Courtney DeBoer.
