Dragon boys top Panthers in opener

The Adrian boys’ basketball team opened the season by recording a 64-53 home win over Ellsworth.

The Dragons opened a 13-point lead (35-22) in the first half and withstood Ellsworth’s challenges in the second half to prevail by 11 points.

Mitchell Lonneman (27 points and 10 rebounds) and Zach Hendel (five rebounds) led AHS statistically.

Trei Hinrichs (14 points and four assists), Malik Herman (13 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots), Bobby Walkowaik (11 points), Brandon Kramer (five rebounds) and Jared Leuthold (five assists) played well for EHS.

 

Patriots fall to SWC in final minute

The Hills-Beaver Creek boys dropped their home opener late in the second half of a game against Southwest Christian.

After falling behind 35-29 in the first half, H-BC battled back to knot the score at 56.

SWC, however, received a field goal from Levi Vander Woude with 15 seconds left to secure a 58-56 win.

Zach Scholten (17 points and six rebounds), Isaiah Vis (11 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals), Drew Forshey (three steals) and Trenton Bass (four assists) led H-BC statistically.
