Springwater Township Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the home of township clerk teresa Kramer.
Blue Mound Quilters will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, for a potluck meal at the home of Verla Fick. Members are to bring a wrapped fat quarter for the gift exchange and their completed challenge project.

Community Meal Nov. 25
The Free Fourth Wednesday Community A Thanksgiving meal will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at the United Methodist Church in Luverne.
 
De-Lightful 5K Nov. 28
The De-Light-Ful 5K Race/Walk or 1 Mile Walk will start at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Luverne Area Aquatics and Fitness Center. Online registration is available at www.allsportcentral.com. Race day registration will begin at 5 p.m. at the Luverne Area Aquatics and Fitness Center. Post race party/awards will follow the race at the Blue Mound Banquet Center. Volunteers needed for Salvation Army Kettle Campaign
The Rock County Salvation Army will begin its Kettle Campaign on Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the lobby at Glen’s Food Center. Volunteer bellringers are encouraged to sign up to help. Businesses, service organizations, youth or church groups can take advantage of this volunteer opportunity to support those in need in Rock County. Call Suanne Ohme at 507-920-0053.
 
Tree of Lights deadline Dec. 1
Sanford Luverne Hospice is sponsoring the Annual Tree of Lights in five area communities. The public can submit names by Tuesday, Dec. 1, ($5 donation per name) to light a light on a tree in honor or in remembrance of loved ones. Names do not need to be affiliated with hospice. Call the Hospice office for information at 283-1805. The public is encouraged to attend a short program of music and reading of the names at the tree-lighting ceremonies as follows:
•Edgerton at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at First State Bank Southwest.
•Luverne at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the corner of Main Street and Hwy. 75 (or Cottage if bad weather).
•Adrian at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Adrian Fire Hall.
•Hills at 12 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at Tuff Village.
 
Bank Nite movie ‘Home Alone’ at Palace Dec. 3
The free Bank Nite movie, “Home Alone,” will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Palace Theatre in Luverne.
Sponsored by First Farmers & Merchants National Bank and Papik Motors, a free, family-friendly movie is shown on the first Thursday of every month as it was done for “Bank Nite” in the 1930s. A cash prize drawing will follow the movie. Must be present to win.
 
Christmas at the Palace Dec. 12
Christmas at the Palace will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Historic Palace Theatre in Luverne. Admission is $12 for advanced reserved tickets, and tickets will be sold starting Monday, Nov. 23, at the Palace Theatre Box Office 507-283-4339 (open Monday-Friday from 1-5 p.m.)

Social Securty Class will be Tuesday, Dec. 1, for 55-62 year olds. Fee is $5.
This year, the prize awarded at Winterfest Cookie Contest kids in the kitchen class on Thursday, Dec. 3, will be for the best cookie variety plate. There will be some to take home, too. Grades K-6. Fee is $18.
Kids in the kitchen class “Gingerbread Time” on Monday, Dec. 14. Fudge, pinwheels and more will be made. Grades K-6. Fee is $18.
Register now for the refresher defensive driving class meeting on Monday, Dec. 14. Fee is $20 prepaid.
There are hundreds of options associated with social security retirement benefits. If you are 55-62 years of age, you would benefit from Maximize Social Security on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Fee is $5.
School Readiness Preschool program has openings for children ages 3-5 years. The program will meet once a week during the school year on Tuesday morning or Tuesday afternoon. Scholarship help is available. Call 283-4724 for more details.

Register for 2016 Discovery Time preschool. There are openings for children ages 3, 4, or 5 years in the Tuesday/Thursday afternoon classes. 
All 3-year-old children living in Minnesota will do an Early Childhood Screening as they near age 4. If your child is nearly 4 years old or already 4 and has not been screened, call 283-4724 to arrange an appointment.
 
Library offers Fall Story Hour events
Story Hour is open to pre-school children ages 4-5. Story Hour will be from 10 to 11 a.m. every Thursday until Nov. 19. Register your child by calling 449-5040.
Laptime Story Hour is open to ages birth-3 with an adult. No registration is required. Laptime Story Hour will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. every Friday through Nov. 20.
 
CoffeeBreak  meets Tuesdays
CoffeeBreak will meet at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday through April 2 at the Luverne Christian Reformed Church (605 N. Estey St.). The Book of Isaiah will be the Bible study.
StoryHour, a time of play and Bible stories, will be available for children ages 2 through kindergarten, and a nursery is available for the littlest ones.
