Blue Mound Quilters Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at the Luverne Senior Center. Deb Van Heerde will present a Quilt Trunk Show. Members are reminded to bring their blocks for the exchange. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome.

One Warm Coat Project
The Rock County One Warm Coat Project is collecting clean, reusable coats (children’s coats especially). Coats may be brought to ATLAS for Life, 201 E. Main Street in Luverne Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 1 to 8 p.m. through Oct. 31. Public Meeting on Referendum Oct. 29
A public meeting on the Renewal Referendum for the Luverne Public Schools will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in the Elementary School Commons. A representative from the district’s financial adviser will be there to answer questions.
 
Trick-or-Treating at Good Sam Oct. 30
All children are welcome to attend trick-or-treating from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Good Samaritan Society-Mary Jane Brown, Poplar Creek and the Oaks. For information call 507-283-2375.
 
Sound Cascade Chorus performs at Palace Nov. 1
The Sweet Adelines International group Sound Cascade Chorus will present their fall concert, “Let’s Sing Again” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at the historic Palace Theatre in Luverne, with a special performance by Step It Up barbershop quartet.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and are available at the door or by calling 507-283-4339.
 
Bank Nite Movie ‘McFarland USA’ Nov. 5
The free Bank Nite movie, “McFarland USA,” will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Palace Theatre in Luverne. Sponsored by First Farmers & Merchants National Bank and Papik Motors, a free, family-friendly movie is shown on the first Thursday of every month as it was done for “Bank Nite” in the 1930s. A cash prize drawing will follow the movie. Must be present to win. The winner from Oct. was Amber Schieck.
 
Kids Against Hunger Packing Event Nov. 5-6

Luverne Area Youth Wrestling free camp Nov. 5-6
Luverne Area Youth Wresting will have a free camp from 3:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 6, in the small gym next to gymnastics room. Coaches will answer questions and go over basic moves. Sign-up will be available at camp and an official sign-up date will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in the small gym.

Better Choices, Better Health Workshop starts Nov. 9
A.C.E. of SW Minnesota — Rock County is offering the “Better Choices Better Health” chronic health condition self-management program from 1:30-3:30 p.m. every Monday for six weeks starting Monday, Nov. 9, through Monday, Dec. 14, at The Oaks dining room in Luverne.

American Red Cross area blood drives Nov. 10 and 11
The American Red Cross encourages blood donations before holidays. Upcoming blood donation opportunities:
•2-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the American Legion, Main St. in Lismore.
•1-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Adrian High School, 415 Kentucky in Adrian.

Kids in the kitchen class “Halloween Treats” on Thursday, Oct. 29. Grades K-6. Must register. Fee is $18.
K-2 Basketball will meet for four Saturdays beginning Saturday, Oct. 31. Fee is $15.
Defensive Driving Classes can reduce the amount of your insurance premium. This is the 8-hour class that can be taken at the age of 55 or older. Attend both Monday, Nov. 2 and Monday, Nov. 9. Fee is $25.
School Readiness Preschool program has openings for children ages 3-5 years. The program will meet once a week during the school year on Tuesday morning or Tuesday afternoon. Scholarship help is available. Call 283-4724 for more details.

Register for 2016 Discovery Time preschool. There are openings for children ages 3, 4, or 5 years in the Tuesday/Thursday afternoon classes. 
All 3-year-old children living in Minnesota will do an Early Childhood Screening as they near age 4. If your child is nearly 4 years old or already 4 and has not been screened, call 283-4724 to arrange an appointment.
 
Library offers Fall Story Hour events
Story Hour is open to pre-school children ages 4-5. Story Hour will be from 10 to 11 a.m. every Thursday until Nov. 19. Register your child by calling 449-5040.
Laptime Story Hour is open to ages birth-3 with an adult. No registration is required. Laptime Story Hour will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. every Friday through Nov. 20.
 
CoffeeBreak  meets Tuesdays
CoffeeBreak will meet at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday through April 2 at the Luverne Christian Reformed Church (605 N. Estey St.). The Book of Isaiah will be the Bible study.
StoryHour, a time of play and Bible stories, will be available for children ages 2 through kindergarten, and a nursery is available for the littlest ones.
