Wenzel: Nourishing lives this National Assisted Living Week

To the Editor:
Assisted living is a critical component of long-term care.
At Poplar Creek Assisted Living and Oaks Independent Living facilities, we pride ourselves on caring for all aspects of each unique resident.  That’s why we are excited to see the theme for this year’s National Assisted Living Week, Sept. 13-19, is “Nourishing Life: Mind, Body and Spirit.”
Whether through our social activities, dining experience, or exercise classes, it is our job to ensure residents enjoy a well-rounded lifestyle with as much independence as possible. “Nourishing Life” observes the countless ways we nurture the whole person.
At the same time, residents nourish the lives of those who work and volunteer at our facilities.  Those we care for truly become family. What’s fascinating is that many of them have made significant contributions to their communities as military heroes, entrepreneurs, public servants and more. Every day we learn from them and their life experiences. This week helps us to celebrate the bond built between residents and assisted living professionals who are committed to providing Christ-centered care and services.
Come learn about our amazing residents and the work we do. I know you will walk away from that experience feeling blessed that you shared your time and talents with some amazing people.
