The Rev. Judeen O. Johnson, age 87 of Volga, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, in Brookings, South Dakota. 
Born on May 5, 1928, in Waseca County, the son of Elmer and Pauline (Bagne) Johnson. Judeen grew up on a farm north of Waseca and graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1946 and St. Olaf College in 1950.
He received his Master of Divinity from Luther Theological Seminary and was ordained into Ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church at North Waseca Lutheran Church in 1954. During his ministry, Judeen served as pastor of Oslo, Bethania, and Lone Rock Lutheran churches in rural Flandreau, South Dakota, Emmanuel and Skrefsrud Lutheran churches in Beresford, South Dakota, American Lutheran Church in DeSmet, South Dakota, St. John’s Lutheran in Bancroft, South Dakota, and First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Following his retirement in 1993, he continued to be active in ministry in the Brookings, South Dakota, area.
Judeen was united in marriage to Marian Severtson of Kenneth on June 6, 1954. They were the parents of three children, Beth, Renate, and Luther. Upon his retirement in 1993, they moved to Brookings. Marian died on March 12, 1999.
He married Mary Negstad of Volga, South Dakota, on September 6, 2003, making Volga their home.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Negstad, Volga; three children, Beth Johnson (David Smith), Slinger, Wisconsin, Renate Johnson (John Hindbjorgen), Astoria, South Dakota, and Luther Johnson (Mary Brown), Eden Prairie; five grandchildren; two stepchildren, Sara Stensaas (Chris), Minneapolis, and Susan Kranz (Kirk), Brookings; and two stepgrandchildren.

Judeen was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Marian.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 14, 2015, at Ascension Lutheran Church, Brookings, with interment at First Lutheran Cemetery in Brookings.
