Henrietta Mulder, 95, Luverne, died Thursday, July 23, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne.
A funeral service was Monday, July 27, at the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery near Luverne.
Henrietta Mieras was born May 12, 1920, to George and Dena (Raak) Mieras in Orange City, Iowa. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Maurice, Iowa. Henrietta graduated from high school in Maurice, Iowa, in 1938.
On Feb. 20, 1942, she married Peter J. Mulder at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The couple moved to Struble, Iowa, and then to various other places before moving to a home northeast of Luverne in 1947. In 1960 Henrietta began working at the Blue Mound Turkey Farm, a catering business, which later became the Blue Mound Inn. She traveled many miles for the catering business. During her life Henrietta also baked pies and worked at The Pantry in downtown Luverne. In 2000 Henrietta retired when the Blue Mound Inn closed.
She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne. She taught Sunday school and was involved with Ladies Aid. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting and most recently making quilts. She was also involved with the Rock County Extension Club.
Henrietta is survived by five children, Darlene Prashar (friend Paul), Naples, Florida, Joan (Elwin) Unruh, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jaclynn (Daryl) Gertz and Gordon (Lois) Mulder, all of Luverne, and Edyth Rodgers, Sioux Falls; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Mulder, on April 19, 2000; her parents; a sister, Marjorie; and sons-in-law, Paul Prashar and Dave Rodgers.
