Mary and I were at our grandson’s baseball tournament a week or two ago. The actual dates escape me but it was that really hot weekend. Of course, there wasn’t a shade tree to be found within the zip code of the baseball diamond. It didn’t take long and a canopy tent city sprung up. At one time, I counted 11 tents between the two diamonds.
That’s when I thought to myself why didn’t I come up with the canopy tent idea? There were red ones, tan ones, some bigger than others and even a State Farm tent all doing their job of providing the spectators some much-needed shade.
I also noticed a lot of the young baseball players were using these new towels that you soak in cool water, ring out and then wrap around your neck to help cool you down. I thought, “Gee, I wish I would have thought of that.”
Then I thought we used to do that when we were kids, but I just used one of Mom’s dishtowels, and that seemed to work just fine. That is, until mom noticed what we were using one of her dishtowels for.
Something else I wished I had thought of is fabric spray paint. Have you tried to buy replacement cushions for your patio furniture lately? Talk about sticker shock.
Looking for a more cost-effective way to give my outdoor cushions a new look, I came across some outdoor fabric spray paint.
I stopped at Luverne Ace Hardware on a whim hoping to find such a product. I know there is a vinyl spray paint that you can get at both Ace and Bomgaars. I have used the vinyl spray paint on boat seats and it works really well.
I didn’t have any luck with the fabric paint locally, so I went global.
I found a product that cost about $11 a can and I have to tell you, I am sold. It took four cans, but I did enough cushions for two chairs and a lounge chair, so I got my new-looking cushions for $44.
I know Ace is looking into carrying the product, so before you go online, go local first.
Here are before-and-after pictures of my cushions so you can judge for yourself. Oh, and by the way, I wish I would have thought of the fabric spray paint.
