Patricia Lynn “Tricia” Brummel, 40, Sioux Center, Iowa, died Friday, July 17, 2015, at her home after a 3 1/2-year battle with cancer.
A funeral service was Tuesday, July 21, at the Hull Protestant Reformed Church in Hull, Iowa. Burial followed at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.
Patricia Vander Steen was born on Dec. 4, 1974, to George John and Johanna (Bakker) Vander Steen in Luverne. She grew up in Luverne and graduated from Southwest Christian High School in Edgerton. She also attended Dordt College in Sioux Center for two years.
On Oct. 19, 1996, she married Lane Thomas Brummel in Luverne. They first made their home in Hull and then in 1998 moved to a farm west of Sioux Center. She was a homemaker and also worked in human resources at Groschopp in Sioux Center.
Tricia was a member of the Hull Protestant Reformed Church where she participated in the women’s activities, especially Bible studies. She enjoyed volunteering.
Tricia is survived by her husband, Lane Brummel, Sioux Center; six children, Dillon, Sydney, Thomas, Isaiah, Kerstin and Bethany Brummel, all of Sioux Center; her mother, Johanna Vander Steen, Luverne; a sister, Lisa (Eric) Kiers, Luverne; a brother, Daniel (Tara) Vander Steen, Luverne; her parents-in-law, Pete and Judy Brummel, Hull; 11 brothers- and sisters-in-law, Stacy (Brent) Haarsma, Gary Brummel, Kevin (Kathy) Brummel, Alissa (Jason) Van Maanen, Laura (Chris) Cleveringa, Renae (Brian) Faber, Peter (Keisha) Brummel, Matthew (Ellen) Brummel, Darrin (Ashley) Brummel, Kyle (fiancé Rachel) Brummel, and Ashley Brummel; many nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Vander Steen.
