“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 ESV
“I want you to say you are sorry,” the teacher said to JJ after he kicked over the tower of blocks.
“Sorry,” he sneered at the young builders and began to walk away.
“Now help them rebuild their tower.” At first he didn't want to, but within minutes the other two genial 4-year-olds engaged him in conversation and soon all three were having fun.
What do we have to give when our “blocks have been kicked over” and our world seems to be falling apart? Sometimes we feel completely empty, even angry, but Christ's love within us can help us do what is right — and to be cheerful givers.
Lord, sometimes life isn't fair. Help me decide in my heart to be a cheerful giver. Let your love within me make a difference in every situation. Amen.
