Grand Prairie Cemetery Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at the Grand Prairie Cemetery. In case of rain, the meeting will be in the back room of Orv & Sons in Ellsworth.

Hot Dog Night set for July 16
Luverne’s 53rd Annual Hot Dog Night will be Thursday, July 16, on Main Street. The event will feature a beer garden at Sterling’s Café, live music, wiener dog races, a wiener dog beauty contest and much more.
 
Monthly Food Ministry is July 16
Monthly Food Ministry, sponsored by New Life Celebration Church, will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Luverne Senior Center. If you’re having trouble putting food on the table, come for fresh produce, bread and meat. Children will be asked to wait outside.
 
Register for Wienerman Triathlon
Registration for the Hot Dog Night Wienerman Triathlon on July 16 is available at www.allsportscentral.com. The race will begin and finish at the old Herman Motor Building with post race awards to follow. IV Play will perform from 8 to 11 p.m. Call Dave, 507-920-3345, with questions.

Public invited to free guided prairie hike near Pipestone July 18
The public is invited to take part in a free, two hour guided prairie hike funded by the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund as recommended by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources. The hike will start at the Prairie Coteau Scientific and Natural Area (SNA) at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 18. Cowboy Church in Luverne July 19
New Life Celebration Church, Luverne, will sponsor Cowboy Church at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 19, in the Show Arena at the Rock County Fairgrounds. Pastor Billy VanCamp, founder of Heart Cry Cowboy Church in Arizona, will deliver a Christian message in a unique cowboy style. The public is welcome. Call 507-449-6522 with questions.
 
You are the leaders we’ve been waiting for; attend July 20 information meeting
The Blandin Community Leadership Program (BCLP) is offering its nationally recognized leadership training in the Luverne area.
Attend a meeting Monday, July 20, to learn more about the program and what it offers individuals and communities. The meeting is from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, July 20, in the Bluestem. Appetizers and beverages will be provided. RSVP by July 17 to 877-882-2257. Applications for BCLP are due Aug. 3. Visit leadership.blandinfoundation.org. The free Fourth Wednesday Community Meal will start at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at the United Methodist Church in Luverne.

‘Capture the Prairie’ exhibit at the Carnegie
The Carnegie is currently featuring a display by photographer Deb Leilani Parks, including photos taken at Blue Mounds State Park by her “Capture the Prairie” photography class. The exhibit is on display now until the end of July at the Carnigie Cultural Center in Luverne.

The Luverne Community Education office will be closed from July 17 through July 31.
Play Dates at the Park for parents and their children ages birth to 5 years meets at 10 a.m. Wednesdays in the city park throughout the summer.  Gather as a group to have fun and socialize. No fee, but registration required, please.
The July 13–18 week long Cinderella Theatre Camp has openings for students who attended kindergarten during 2014-15 through age 7. Fee is $40.
Football camps for elementary and middle school will be July 20 and 21. Fee is $25.
