Marion Swenson, 99, Luverne, died Friday, July 3, 2015, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne.
A funeral service was Tuesday, July 7, at the United Methodist Church in Luverne.  Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
Marion Goembel was born June 27, 1916, to Arthur and Sylvia (Ackley) Goembel in Rock County. She attended country school in Rock County and later attended Luverne Public Schools.
On June 8, 1946, she married Wilfred Swenson in Canton, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple moved to Luverne. She worked in the Luverne Elementary School cafeteria.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Luverne where she sang in the church choir; the United Methodist Women; the Royal Neighbors; and the Luverne American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, traveling and making afghans for all of her family members.
Marion is survived by her five sons, Bob (Margaret) Swenson, Luverne, Dennis (Sheri) Swenson, Grove, Oklahoma, David (Patti) Swenson, Beaver Creek, Kenneth Swenson, Luverne, and Todd (Dawn) Swenson, Brookings, South Dakota; two daughters, Betty (Jerry) Airgood, Kingman, Arizona, and Carol (Roger) Krinke, Belview; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Ruth (Lional) Wetzel, Neosho, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilfred Swenson, on Jan. 29, 1995; a grandson, London; a granddaughter, Lisa; two brothers, Donald (Frances) Goembel, and Russell (Helen) Goembel; and three sisters, Mildred (Jack) McKay, Grace Miller, and an infant sister.
